How to Make a Matcha Green Tea Latte

We all know green tea is good for us, but matcha green tea is even better! Did you know, one cup of matcha tea is equivalent to ten cups of green tea in terms of antioxidant levels? Yep, it really is a super drink, and enjoying a cup every day instead of your usual tea or coffee will bring a multitude of excellent health benefits.

Matcha is basically just green tea leaves that have been ground to a fine powder, and has been drunk in Japan for almost 900 years! It's supposedly great at reducing the risk of cancers, and can even boost your metabolism - so there's no guilt in enjoying this frothy, creamy matcha tea latte, because it's a great addition to any diet. 

Matcha also has calming benefits, making it a great addition to this busy lifestyle we all lead, and it even contains a source of vitamin C and zinc, as well as being a great healthy source of fiber. 

And that's not all, did you know matcha is also an excellent energy booster? Since it's such a hit of good stuff, your body will respond well to a cup of matcha in the morning, which is much better than all that caffeine or an energy drink.

Plus, this matcha latte recipe, is incredibly delicious. Enjoy it with melon pan, little cakes or biscuits too.

You will need:

1/2 Teaspoons of Matcha Tea Powder

2 oz of Water

6 oz Milk (Can also be made with almond or soy milk for a super healthy latte)

1 Pump of Vanilla Syrup

Sugar (Optional)

Method

It couldn't be easier, you can whip this up before work, or in the office. Place the matcha powder into a cup and add sugar if you take it. (as much as you would normally add to your tea. Add the pump of vanilla syrup and the 2oz of water, and whisk up into a paste.

In a jar with a lid put the milk in the microwave for two minutes (without the lid). When hot, remove from the microwave and seal the lid. Wrap in a kitchen towel and shake vigorously to produce a nice froth. Pour the milk over the tea mixture, mix together and enjoy!
