Japanese Sesame

Japanese sesame seeds, known as "goma," are an essential ingredient in Japanese cuisine and are highly valued for their nutty flavour and versatility.

There are two main varieties - white sesame seeds (shiro goma) and black sesame seeds (kuro goma). White sesame seeds have a mild, slightly sweet flavour, while black sesame seeds have a stronger, more intense taste.

Widely used in Japanese cooking as a seasoning, garnish, or ingredient in various dishes. They are commonly sprinkled on rice, noodles, salads, and vegetables to add a crunchy texture and a nutty flavour.

Sesame seeds are also used to make sesame oil, sesame paste (goma-dare), and sesame-based sauces.
