Simple Soy Marinated Chicken Recipe

June 10, 2009

May is set to have a lot of sunny weekends, and there's another bank holiday weekend in store for us too. That's why you need to break out the BBQ this month and try out some tasty but simple Japanese recipes that will please the whole family.

This week we're sharing a recipe that had a simple Japanese marinade, and it can be used to BBQ chicken, but it's also suitable for pork, steak, or even large porobello mushrooms.

You Will Need

  • 7 Chicken Drumsticks
  • 1/4 Cup Plum Sauce
  • 1/4 Cup Ketchup
  • 1/4 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 2-3 Tbsp Rice Wine Vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • Handful of Sesame Seeds
  • 1 Tsp Crushed Garlic Paste
  • 1 Spring Onion Finely Chopped

Recipe

  • Get the BBQ to the 'white hot coals' stage, or heat an oven to 220c.
  • Mix together all the ingredients in a large non-stick tray, or a large ziploc bag. Leave to marinade in the fridge for at least half an hour.
  • Grill the chicken drumsticks in their sticky marinade on the BBQ, and serve when the sauce starts to caramelize.
