Sushi Roll Without a Sushi Mat

May 10, 2019

This maki sushi is becoming popular on Instagram in Japan. You can make a sushi roll without a sushi mat! Also, if you don't like nori, this is your chance as you can wrap the toppings around the rice.

What you need are,

  • Toppings (Sashimi, avocado, eel, eggs, radish etc)
  • Sushi rice: mix sushi powder with cooked rice! (1 sachet per 700g of cooked rice/290g of uncooked rice)
1. Mix the sushi rice with rice seasonings, then twist sushi rice with a sheet of cling film.

2. Place sashimi or avocado, the ingredients you want to wrap the rice with on the sheet of cling film.

3. Place the rice on sashimi and twist wrap the whole thing with the cling film
