Kikkoman light soy sauce is also known as "usukuchi shoe" in Japanese. It is particularly popular in the Kansai region of Japan, the lighter color arises from the use of amazake, a sweet liquid made from fermented rice, that is used in its production. This particular one is made in Japan. Used when a less strong flavour or colour is desired in a dish. It is used less often for dips than dark soy.
