Information

Shibanuma Dark Soy Sauce 18L
柴沼醤油醸造 濃口醤油 18L

Shibanuma dark soy sauce is a type of Japanese soy sauce that is known for its rich and bold flavour. Made using a traditional brewing process that involves a long ageing period, resulting in a dark, thick, and intensely flavourful sauce!

Commonly used in Japanese cuisine as a seasoning for various dishes, such as stir-fry, marinades, and sauces. It is often used in combination with other ingredients to add depth and complexity to the flavour profile of a dish.

The ageing process allows the sauce to develop its deep colour, thick texture, and complex flavour profile, with a deep, savoury taste with a slightly sweet undertone and a pronounced umami flavour.

About the Manufacturer: Shibanuma

Shibanuma Soy Sauce has produced soy sauce in Tsuchiura, Hitachi, Japan for over 320 years and 18 generations, since 1688. Shibanuma soy sauce was selected and presented to the Edo Shogunate as one of the best soy sauce in Japan.

The secret to Shibanuma’s soy sauce are the original wooden barrels descended for decades, traditionally used for fermentation and maturation. Natural koji microbes in the wooden barrels combined with Shibanuma’s process method are the key to the quality. "They are the best soy sauce in Japan” by Somegoro Ichikawa.
