Nori, a dried sea weed that resembles sheets of black paper, is a very popular ingredient in Japan, particularly for the wrapping of steamed rice to make makizushi (sushi rolls) and onigiri (rice balls). It is also a traditional breakfast ingredient, eaten with rice. Nori is rich in vitamin B1 which helps combat mental fatigue. It comes in different qualities which are referred to as grades.
