This Mino ware plate is 135mm across and 28mm high, with a petalled daisy rim and a matte grey glaze. It is a side-plate size with a little depth, so it handles sauces and dressed food as well as dry bites.

Flower-shaped tableware, with rims cut or moulded into petals, is a long-standing Japanese way of bringing a touch of nature to the table. A matte grey glaze keeps the shape modern and lets the petal outline do the work. Mino ware (美濃焼) comes from the Tono area of Gifu Prefecture, around towns such as Tajimi and Toki, and is Japan's largest ceramic tableware tradition, with more than a thousand years of kiln history behind it.

The 135 x 28mm plate is the side-plate size, for desserts, sides and small starters. The 170 x 28mm plate is a step up for a light main or a sharing starter. The 113 x 68 x 34mm boat-shaped dish is for sauces, pickles and small portions. All three share the same matte grey daisy design.

Does matte grey show marks?
Matte glazes can show faint cutlery marks more readily than gloss. They usually clean off with a gentle non-scratch cleaner, and we will add the maker's care guidance when it arrives.
Is it dishwasher and microwave safe?
We are waiting on the maker's care guidance and will add it here before the stock lands, so we are not going to guess. Until it arrives, hand washing in warm soapy water with a soft sponge is the safe choice for glazed Japanese tableware. Let it dry fully before stacking or putting it away.
