Oribe (織部) is the copper-green glaze most closely tied to Mino. It takes its name from Furuta Oribe, the warrior and tea master whose bold taste shaped Mino pottery at the end of the sixteenth century, and it fires to a glassy green that pools deeper where the glaze runs thick. Here it is paired with a white wave, a motif (nami, 波) long used in Japanese decoration for movement and the sea.

Will the wave and drip look like the photo?
Close, but each bowl differs. The Oribe drip runs differently in every firing, so how much of the white wave shows through, and where, varies from bowl to bowl.
Is it dishwasher and microwave safe?
We are waiting on the maker's care guidance and will add it here before the stock lands, so we are not going to guess. Until it arrives, hand washing in warm soapy water with a soft sponge is the safe choice for glazed Japanese tableware. Let it dry fully before stacking or putting it away.
