Manufactured in Japan, this shiitake mushroom ponzu is rich in flavour of shiitake, dried bonito extract, brewed vinegar and fish sauce.
Shiitake mushroom ponzu is made by simmering dried shiitake mushrooms, kombu, and other ingredients in a soy sauce and mirin (sweet rice wine) base, then adding sudachi juice for a tangy citrus flavor. The resulting sauce is savoury, umami-rich, and slightly sweet with a tangy, citrusy finish.
This sauce is a popular condiment in Japan and can be used to enhances the flavour a variety of dishes, including grilled meats and vegetables, noodle dishes, and sushi. The shiitake mushroom adds a depth of flavour and umami to the sauce, while the sudachi citrus provides a bright, refreshing note.
