Information

Nakata, Aka Umeshu (Red Plum Wine) 180ml

Nakata Aka Umeshu is made from carefully selected red or ripe ume plums, sugar, and alcohol. The plums used in this variation are typically allowed to fully ripen and develop their rich flavour. The plums are then soaked in alcohol, often shochu or sake, and sugar is added to create a sweet and flavorful infusion. The mixture is left to age, allowing the flavours to meld and develop.

Flavour Profile: Nakata Aka Umeshu has a deep and rich flavour profile compared to traditional umeshu made with green ume plums. The ripe plums lend a sweeter and more complex taste, often with notes of plum, honey, and floral undertones. The flavour can vary slightly between different brands and producers, as well as the specific ume plum variety used!

How to Serve: Commonly enjoyed straight, on the rocks, or diluted with water or soda. It can also be used as an ingredient in cocktails, adding a fruity and sweet element to mixed drinks. This red umeshu variation is often savoured as a dessert beverage or enjoyed as a digestif after a meal.
