Marukome, Instant Miso Soup with Tofu, 8 Sachets, 152g
Miso soup with tofu, just add hot water.
Eight single-serve sachets of miso soup with tofu and wakame, made by Marukome, Japan's largest miso producer, brewing in Nagano since 1854. Each sachet carries real miso paste plus pieces of tofu that rehydrate in the bowl, so it eats more like a small meal than a thin instant soup. Pour on hot water, stir, done in under a minute.

Why Operators Choose This
- Tofu included: real tofu pieces rehydrate in the bowl for a more substantial soup.
- Real miso paste: a paste sachet, not a powder, so the flavour is closer to scratch-made.
- Under a minute: hot water and a stir, ideal for staff meals and quick service.
- Trusted maker: Marukome has brewed miso in Nagano since 1854.
How to Use
- Classic: empty a sachet into a bowl, add around 160ml hot water and stir.
- Build on it: add spring onion or extra wakame to round it out.
- Staff and counter: a fast, warming option for back-of-house or grab-and-go.
- Light meal: the tofu makes it filling enough to stand on its own.
Miso soup (味噌汁, miso shiru) is the everyday soup of Japan, miso paste loosened into dashi, part of the diet since miso entered the samurai kitchen as soup by the twelfth century. Tofu and wakame are the most classic additions, so this sachet is the standard bowl most people picture. It is a convenience version of a simple dish, but a good one, because the miso is real paste from a serious producer rather than a flavouring.

What is in instant miso soup with tofu?
A sachet of real miso paste together with dried pieces of tofu and wakame seaweed that soften and swell when you add hot water. The result is the classic tofu-and-wakame miso soup served in homes and restaurants across Japan, mild, savoury and gently sweet from the white miso, with the tofu giving it body. How do you make it?
Empty one sachet into a bowl or mug, add roughly 160ml of hot, just-off-the-boil water, and stir until the paste dissolves and the tofu and wakame soften, about a minute. Very hot water helps; a full rolling boil is not needed. Add sliced spring onion or a little extra wakame if you want to dress it up.
What is the difference between this and the plain miso soup?
Both are made the same way, with real white miso paste and wakame. This version also includes pieces of tofu that rehydrate in the bowl, which makes it more filling and closer to the classic tofu miso soup served with a meal. The plain version is lighter and comes in a larger 12-sachet box.
How should I store the sachets?
Keep the box somewhere cool and dry and reseal it after opening. Each sachet is individually sealed, so they keep well until the date on the pack. Once made up, drink the soup while hot; it is not designed to be held or reheated repeatedly.
