Known in Japan as “Akashiso Furikake."
Tanaka red shiso powder is a traditional Japanese condiment made from the dried leaves of the red perilla plant, also known as shiso. The red shiso plant has a distinctive flavour that is somewhat similar to mint and basil, but with a slightly spicy, cinnamon-like undertone.
Red shiso powder is often used in Japanese cuisine to add colour and flavour to dishes such as pickles, rice balls, and grilled meats. It can also be used as a garnish for soups and stews, or mixed with other spices to make a seasoning blend!
