Marukome was founded in Japan in 1854 as a fermented food manufacturer. Fermented foods have been a huge part of Japanese cuisine for centuries, and as such, Marukome found that their miso products were hugely popular, and has since been in search of new ideas and methods. They are now well known for their miso products that are easy-to-use and contain dashi stock. As a result, Marukome has grown to become the largest miso supplier in Japan.
